Climate Change 2016 has successfully dated the Biggio Barn – ten of the beams were cut in the spring of 1840. The building then was likely constructed shortly after that cut date. A copy of the report can be found here. The class is now evaluating the climate signal in two tree-ring records one from Johnson Woods (Orrville, Ohio) and the other from the Fareast Russian Kamchatka Peninsula. Below is a comparison of the Kamchatka record and a recent Northern Hemisphere temperature reconstruction NTREND. It looks coherent with the Northern Hemisphere and could then be included in the next round of NH reconstructions.
